ACRP and CRAcademy collaborate to reduce clinical research staff shortages in Europe

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, – CRAcademy, a division of DOCS International, today announced that they have signed a collaboration agreement with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).The agreement aims to increase the availability, quality, integrity and consistency of qualified clinical research staff.

Under the agreement, CRAcademy will be able to provide formal traineeships for potential clinical research staff using course material and examinations that have been accredited by the ACRP. This formal training will include site monitoring, administration, audits, the economics of clinical trials and relevant soft skills. The ACRP’s Core Knowledge Assessment has been incorporated into the training programme and each trainee is required to pass the ACRP & CRAcademy qualification examination, in order to receive the status of ‘Qualified Clinical Research Associate’.

“The creation of a harmonised education standard within clinical research is vital if we are to eliminate the current shortage of clinical research professionals without damaging quality“ commented Kieran Canisius-Engels, European Director of CRAcademy.

Mrs. Canisius continued “The ACRP accreditation of the CRAcademy traineeship is a demonstration of the quality of the multiple training programmes which we provide and allows us to clearly demonstrate that Clinical Research Associates that successfully come through CRAcademy are truly qualified for the job.”

Dr. Thomas L. Adams, President & CEO of ACRP stated “For some time now agencies and employers around the world have been speaking in terms of harmonising and standardising the development of clinical research personnel. The collaboration with CRAcademy allows ACRP to continue its push for harmonised quality standards in the execution of clinical trials around the world”.

The newly accredited CRAcademy traineeships will commenced on the 4th of February and are currently scheduled to take place in Poland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Romania.
