Facts and Figures of the Polish Market
Poland’s access to the European market lent the country institutional stability and has set it on course for economic growth. Following these developments, Poland witnesses an increase in the exports of the pharmaceutical products, a greater inflow of foreign capital investment, labor mobility between member countries and rapid privatization in its healthcare industry (www.frost.com, 29/05/2007).
The acceleration in wages in the first quarter was powered by rising demand for employees and the high wave of labor emigration. As a result, many branches are beginning to suffer from a labor deficit and employers are being forced to significantly raise salaries to dissuade workers from leaving (www.pmrpublications.com). These figures are a reflection of the Polish labour market in general, if we focus on the pharmaceutical industry we see that the same thing is happening which causes great imbalance between salaries paid by pharmaceutical companies and CRO’s.
