Description

The Medical Advisor provides a bridge between clinical research and the marketing and sales department as well as the remaining departments within the organisation. He/she specifically provides an authoritative opinion and answers medically based questions concerning medical, legal and regulatory matters enabling colleagues to comply with the relevant statutory requirements.

Qualifications

The medical advisor often has a medical education and background, and is therefore medically qualified. Due to the reduction of qualified doctors desiring this position, specialised nurses have become important candidates for this function.

Tasks

    • Initiate, supervise the performance and progress of clinical trials
    • Provide proactive input in the strategic medical management and marketing
    • Develop and implement strategic direction within key therapeutic areas
    • Contribute to the design and approval of promotional materials
    • Develop effective relationships with key influencers and external organisations
    • Co-ordinate and utilise specialist knowledge with colleagues in formulating and implementing medical strategy
    • Answer medical or technical questions concerning protocol and product
    • Provide training and education to internal staff and participate in protocol development
    • Share knowledge and technical expertise with other team members while providing medical training to field representatives and other internal staff
