Description
The Research Physician is involved in the on-site development, coordination and execution of clinical research and is mainly responsible for all-trial related medical decisions. You can find the Research Physician on independent sites (hospitals and SMOs) and on clinical pharmacology units (phase I). The main responsibility of the research physician lies within the safety, and medical care of trial subjects.
Qualifications
The research physician should be a registered and qualified medical doctor, and should preferably have patient-contact experience. He/she should have an interest in clinical scientific research. It is important that the candidate realise that the function of Research Physician does not include cure of patients, but often purely professional clinical research. He/she must have professional English language skills and knowledge of standards and protocols of clinical trials.
