The Medical Department of most life science organisations covers the clinical development process once it enters into a phase 1 clinical trial (first into man) and beyond. The department will sometimes include all staff that are working on the medical and clinical aspects of developing and marketing a product. They might also be connected with work on alternative indications for existing products within their portfolio.
The department will often include Pharmaceutical Physicians, Pharmacovigilance Physicians and Scientists, Regulatory Affairs professionals, Quality Assurance and Medical Writing experts, Medical Information staff and individuals working in other areas of clinical development from phase 1.
